The blanket ministry is a group of individuals that gather to make items in prayer for those in need. The mission of the blanket ministry is to spread God’s love and warmth by donating handmade items such as blankets, shawls, scarves, and hats. Most of the materials are donated. To date, we have made donations to Project Linus, NJ Hospice, nursing homes, St. Mary’s Hospital Family Services, members of the community, and more. The group meets two times monthly, September through May. You do not need to be a Columbiette to join. All crafters are welcome, knitters, crocheters, and quilters!

St. Philip’s is proud to support the Fr. English Food Pantry located in
Paterson. Every other month our parishioners generously donate
bags of food staples that help supplement the working poor in
Paterson. Anyone interested in volunteering at the pantry can come
and visit at 435 Main St. Paterson, to see if the pantry is a good fit for
you. Non perishable Items that are most requested are as follows:
canned soups, pasta, sauce, tuna, canned chicken, peanut butter and
jelly, Mac and cheese, cereals, dried lentils and beans are always in
short supply. Whatever you can do to help feed the poor, it is most
appreciated!

Hunger doesn’t Stop is a program of Power Of One initiated in 2012 which focuses on alleviating food insecurity in Clifton families by filling the gap when school is closed so students are ready to learn. Food care packages are provided to Clifton School Nurses & Counselors and families we serve.

In the Spring, we have a Drive-by Baby Shower for expectant mothers. We ask for donations of new and gently used clothes for infants to 5 years old.

In the Fall, we collect new and gently used clothes, shoes, hats, handbags, scarves for women, children and men.

  • Backpacks -  Each year in June, our organization donates 50 backpacks filled with much needed school supplies collected by our members.  The backpacks are then given to Catholic School families in need throughout the State of New Jersey creating a smile on their innocent faces!

  • Tab Tops - We collect can tabs for the families of sick children in the Ronald McDonald House.

  • Pennies from Heaven- Pennies collected is given to the seminary students.
